Microsoft believes strongly that the Internet should be a safe place for young people and adults alike and has developed a presentation that educates parents about the technology their children are using and how they can help safeguard them when online. To date, we have over 300 employees trained to deliver this session in schools and community centres and are proud to partner with Olswang to train their staff, so that together, we can reach more parents with these important safeguarding messages.
We have always been thrilled not only with Olswang's technical and legal ability but also with the innovation they bring to their role. It's working closely with advisors like Olswang - who are closely aligned with our business strategies, goals and priorities - that enables Microsoft to help ensure that the internet is a safe place for young people."Matt Lambert, Director of Corporate Affairs and Citizenship
Keeping children safe online is an issue of huge importance, requiring parents to understand the technology that young people are using and the safeguards available to them.
In response to this need, Microsoft worked with Olswang and CEOP (the division of the police that deals with child exploitation) to create a presentation that introduces parents to the relevant technology, highlights the dangers that young people are exposed to online and informs parents as to how they can protect their children.
Microsoft began by training their own staff before training Olswang employees to deliver presentations about internet safety at local schools. Through working together we have been able to reach out to a greater number of schools and successfully inform parents of the information they need to keep their children safe online.
